Ways to Tell You Live With a Girl

I've just moved into a new apartment. This is the second apartment for me and my girlfriend. But the first time, living with me and two cats, that she has had a chance to decorate. That being said, this is just a list of observations I've made now that she has done so.

  • The posters of supermodels that were duct-taped to the wall have been replaced with framed pieces of art (such as a bowl of fruit) hanging on the wall.
  • The dining table is used for dining, and not a place to pile stuff up on. And includes complete matching table settings, with cloth napkins and placemats.
  • That bag of candy you bought while at the store has been emptied into a glass (and not plastic) bowl and no longer sitting open surrounded by empty wrappers.
  • Walls have been painted an aestetically pleasing color that coordinates with other rooms and is no longer the plain white it was when you moved in.
  • There is an armoire in the bedroom.
  • Empty shelf space has been filled with knick-knacks.
  • Pictures of other people (but not the models that came with the frame) are in frames, not the envelope they came in from wherever they were developed at.
  • Scented candles, scented candles, and more scented candles. Air fresheners plugged into outlets.
  • The beer garden outside the patio door has had blubs planted in it.
  • The toilet seat is down.

These are just little things I've noticed about my new apartment now that my girlfriend has had the opportunity to decorate it. This isn't to say I'm complaining...
